19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
Victory also means he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.
His defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.
The opponent defended four early break points in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
